Manchester Running Company is pleased to host the Finally Spring 5k for the tenth straight year on Saturday, April 7th in Manchester. The race primarily takes place on on the trails of the Howard/Porter Reservoir system off Ferguson St. but does feature a small amount of roads and also features a Kids 1-Mile run.
The Kids Mile takes place at 9:30 a.m. and is completely supervised and a very manageable run, suitable for ages 5-13; younger runners are welcome but parental supervision is strongly encouraged.
The 5k takes place at 10:00 a.m. and is the USATF-CT Trail racing 5k championship, features prize money for the top individuals and teams and some fun age group prizes. All pre-registered runners are eligible for a free-pair of MRC running socks by SockGuy. The race is one of the most popular trail races of the year in CT as well as one of the first of the year. Some of CT's top runners have won the race including Anna Shields, John Busque, and Will Sanders.
All runners registered by March 15th will receive a custom bib with their name on it and all who participate are treated to a nice breakfast spread from Great Harvest Bread Co. The cost of the race is just $25 in advance or on race day; kids are just $5 for either race.
Parking, restrooms, registration and awards will all be held at Highland Park School and the days festivities will begin with registration around 8:15 a.m. After the race stick around for awards at 11:00 a.m. The race is professionally timed by The Last Mile Racing. Ferguson Street will be closed to traffic between 9:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. for safety and security of all runners. Walkers are welcome in the 5k.
