Location: The race is run primarily in the Howard/Porter Passive Recreation Area on Ferguson Street in Manchester, Conn. The start and finish is actually on Ferguson Street itself so a total of about 200 yards is run on the road. This is primarily a trail race.
Registration and Cost: Registration can be done in one of three ways. You may register online by clicking here, you may download the application and mail in your entry along with check made out to Manchester Running Company or you can register on race day in the Highland Park School parking lot. Pre-registration is just $20.00 through Feb. 14th for adults and $5.00 for youth. ALL pre-registered will get a free pair of Manchester Running Company socks (very popular)! Those wishing to register after Feb. 15th or on race day the cost is $25.00 and registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. on race-day.
Parking: There is limited parking available at Highland Park School; this lot will fill up quickly. There is plenty of street parking on neighboring streets but please be prepared you may need to park as far as 1/4 mile away. There will also be no parking on Ferguson St. from the reservoir to Porter St., there is parking toward the Middle Tnpk side of Ferguson, however. If you know you are going with a group we suggest meeting at Manchester High School and just taking one car, it will save room.
Restrooms: Restrooms are available inside Highland Park School.
Awards: 2019 Award Divisions
Open Male and Open Female (1st, 2nd, 3rd) earn prize money ($100, $75, $50)
Youth Awards: All participants receive an award
18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 +; no double-dipping
Sponsors: Select Physical Therapy and Manchester Running Company! More to come as we finalize agreements. If you are interested in sponsoring please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Timing: Timing will be done by The Last Mile Racing Company
The Course: We call it a 5k, but really it's probably a 5.25k (hey, the name just sounds better- actual course distance measures 3.21 miles). Starting on Ferguson Street the course is primarily rolling hills for the first mile before you hit some flat and gradual downhill starting in mile 2, mile three is very much downhill. Because the course starts on road we do not recommend spikes but trail shoes are highly recommended. See course map.
Food: We will provide a nice breakfast spread of breads, bagels, fruit, juice and water for your enjoyment at no extra cost.
