The third annual Life Without Limits 5k Run, Walk & Roll will take place this Saturday, June 15th at 8:00 a.m. at Globe Hollow Reservoir on Spring Street in Manchester. The event is a challenging 5k course on paved roads and bike paths in the south Manchester with 100% of the proceeds benefitting United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Hartford. We invite runners, walkers and strollers to our third annual event.

June 1, 2013 — I’m not sure if you noticed, but the last few days in Connecticut, New England and probably most of the country it’s been pretty hot and humid. I don’t have exact numbers but I know it was over 90 a few times this week and quite humid. With that comes all the articles in the world about how to run in the heat, what to do to keep yourself cool, how to hydrate, etc. and it’s all great advice, but what about when you’re done running?

May 23, 2013 - The spring humidity and rain has arrived. It seems like we get this stretch every year for about a week or two where it is just humid, soupy, and/or raining every day. I recall about four or five years ago we had at least some precipitation every single day of June – I hope we don’t get that again. Anyway, the humidity and rain really takes a toll on foot comfort.

May 21, 2013 — Going shopping for a new pair of running shoes, shorts, accessories can be a great time and can sometimes make you feel like a kid in a candy store. There is so much going on, so many new colors, new styles, etc. and because generally you only go to a running store once every couple of months, it’s great to see all the new stuff!

May 19, 2013 – Today some of the MRC crew decided to do a trail race put on by the Shenipsit Striders – the Soapstone Mountain Trail Race. Appropriately named, it took place on Soapstone Mountain which is near the Ellington, Stafford Springs, Tolland (somewhere around there) line here in Connecticut. This race was tough, and got us thinking we should really write a little piece about the difference between trail races and road, and perhaps most interesting – the difference between trail racers and road racers.
