Spring Street Mile – USATF-CT Road Mile Championship
Manchester Running Club is excited to host the Spring Street Mile, the USATF-CT Road Mile Championship!
Saturday, May 17, 2025
Race Information:
- Course Type: Point-to-Point (The start and finish are 1 mile apart. Please plan accordingly.)
- Start Location: Spring St., Manchester, Conn. (near the intersection with Tam Rd.) [Click here for map and directions]
- Finish Location: Adjacent to Mt. Nebo/Globe Hollow Parking Lot on Spring St., Manchester, Conn.
Race Overview: The mile is for everyone! Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned runner, come and test your fastest mile.
Starting Line Guidelines: Please be honest about your speed and abilities. Runners who can complete the mile in under 4:20 (men) or 5:10 (women) are welcome to start at the line. If you cannot meet these times, we ask that you position yourself further back to allow faster runners to start at the front. Non-compliance may result in removal from the starting line and disqualification without refund. This policy ensures everyone’s safety. Winning times typically are under 4 minutes for men and around 4:30 for women.
Elite Runners: If you believe you qualify as an elite runner (sub 4:07 for men or sub 4:40 for women), please contact Patrick Byrne at patrick@mrctf.org with links to recent top performances. We offer up to three complimentary entries per race; selected runners will be notified.
Course Records:
- Men’s Record: Erik Berg – 3:55 (2015)
- Women’s Record: Anna Shields – 4:22 (2019)
Timing: Timing is provided by Last Mile Racing Co. using the B-Tag timing system. Please wear your bib on the front of your body for accurate timing.
Parking: As the race is point-to-point, please plan your parking accordingly:
- Finish Area Parking: Mt. Nebo or Globe Hollow parking lot (recommended if you do not wish to walk back to the start).
- Start Area Parking: Glen St. (small road before the bridge on Spring St. near Case Mountain). Limited parking may be available on side streets, but do not park illegally as towing will be enforced. Please do not park on Spring Street.
Personal Property: Manchester Running Club is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Do not leave personal belongings at the start; we will not guarantee their safety. Any found items will be brought to the awards ceremony for retrieval.
