Manchester Running Company is excited to bring our sixth year of Thursday Nights Under the Lights Track & Field Series to Manchester beginning July 9th. The series of four track and field meets will continue on July 16th, 23rd and 30th. Youth and adults are welcome and encouraged to compete, explore a new event, or learn a new technique at our relaxed, but efficient meets.
Each week, the track & field competition begins at 6:00 p.m. with registration opening around 5:15 p.m. You can pre-register for the entire series right here – if you do so you get a lovely tri-blend t-shirt. Weekly cost to participate is just $4 for all youth (under 18), $5 for Manchester residents and $10 for non-resident adults; you can pay per week and your registration fee covers as many events as you choose to participate in.
On the track, competitions include everything from the 100 meters to 5k, we also have the long jump, triple jump and high jump along with the shot put and either the discus or javelin – please check our schedule to see which events are being contested each week. All events are open to all ages and we run boys, girls, men and women separately to ensure enjoyment of competition, parity, and safety. Please also take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions page for even more details.
MRC will time and record all events and post results, pictures and an occasional video on our website and social media pages the day after each meet. Some of the best track & field competition of the year takes place at our meets, and if you don’t believe us, just take a look at some of our meet records. For those who are curious, historically our most popular events have been the sprints and field events, but we also get full fields (8 or more people) in all of the distance events. Our meets run very efficiently and typically we are done with the entire meet by about 8:30 p.m.
