The MRC Track & Field Series begins its ninth season of offering Thursday night track & field meets for all ages on July 6th. The meets are free for youth (anyone under the age of 18) and will be held each Thursday in July beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Manchester High School track & field facility.
The non-profit MRC Track & Field Series is hosting the meets which will feature the steeplechase, automatic timing, prize money for open (adult) athletes in several events and fun competition for all ages. Adults are just $10 and while youth participants are free, advanced registration is highly recommended at www.mrctf.org or www.mrctrack.com.
Registration will begin at 5:15 p.m. each night of the series (July 6, 13, 20 and 27). Parking is available in the Brookfield Street lot, restrooms and water will also be provided. There is no admission fee for spectators and t-shirts will be sold for $12 while supplies last.
The popular meets have taken place since 2009 and drawn competition from all over the region including 2016 Olympian Mike Hartfield of Manchester. The mission of the organization is to promote healthy lifestyles through the sport of track & field. The organizers are also interested in giving the youth of greater Manchester an alternate out-of-school activity in addition to encouraging participation in a wide array of athletic endeavors.
