Spring Street Mile & Life Without Limits 5k June 13th

On Saturday, June 13th, Manchester Running Company is pleased to bring you the Spring Street Mile and Cigna presents Life Without Limits 5k Run, Walk & Roll. This will be the fifth annual Life Without Limits 5k and the fourth running of the Spring Street Mile, both events take place at Globe Hollow Reservoir in Manchester.

The Cigna presents Life Without Limits 5k Run, Walk & Roll is a moderately challenging 5k open to all abilities, including (and especially) wheelchair participants. The event has been on the schedule of Team Hoyt New England and featured the inspirational team of Rick & Dick Hoyt each of the past four years and is on the schedule again for 2015. The cost of the race is $37 per person or save $50 by registering as a team of four. The race starts and finishes on Spring Street, just outside of Globe Hollow.

The 5k course is 95% paved, with some crushed gravel portions, but all parts of the course are wheelchair friendly. The race features a separate, unimpeded start for wheelchair participants; while all participants are on the course by 9:30 a.m. Prizes are up for grabs in several age categories and all participants receive a t-shirt, SWAG bag and a 50/50 raffle ticket. All proceeds from this race benefit United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Hartford.

The 5k is preceded immediately by the Spring Street Mile. Connecticut’s fastest mile, this event challenges you to run the best mile of your life. A gently rolling downhill course provides you with the speed you need and great competition allows for very fast times. The Spring Street Mile is the USATF-CT 1-Mile Road Racing Championship.

There is abundant team prize money up for grabs as well as individual prize money of $300 for the winners, $150 for second place and $75 for third in each gender. You do not have to be a member of a USATF-CT team or a USATF member period to win prize money.

The Spring Street Mile is a point-to-point event; the start of the race is at the intersection of Tam Rd. and Spring Street and the finish is just outside Globe Hollow Reservoir. The women’s-only start is at 9:00 a.m. followed by the men’s-only start at 9:10 a.m. The cost is just $20 until June 1st, when the price goes up to $25. All pre-registered runners receive an elegant drinking mug and a commemorative race sticker.
