Registration is open and filling up fast for the Spring Street Mile and Life Without Limits 5k Run, Walk & Roll. Both races will take place on June 14th in Manchester. Parking, restrooms, registration and awards will all take place at Globe Hollow Reservoir – overflow parking is available just across the street at Mt. Nebo.
The Spring Street Mile will start at the intersection of Tam Rd. and Spring St. with the finish on Spring St. adjacent to the Globe Hollow Parking lots. The mile race is a point-to-point course, USATF Certified and is slightly downhill. Separate mile races for women and men will allow for less congestion at the start and faster times. The women’s race will start at 9:00 a.m. and the men’s gun will go off at 9:07 a.m. The Spring St. Mile is the USATF-CT Road One Mile Championship for 2014 and 2015. The cost of the race is just $20 in advance and $25 on race day. Over $3,000 is up for grabs in team and individual prize money. Registration takes place online here.
The Life Without Limits 5k Run, Walk & Roll is a scenic course open to all ages and abilities and serves as a fundraiser for United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Hartford. The course winds its way around the Globe Hollow, Martin School, Mt. Nebo and Charter Oak Park bike paths and roads. The course is completely closed to traffic. In its fourth year, the 5k will once again feature Team Hoyt New England. The 5k is set to take off at 9:30 a.m. and the cost is $37 through race day. 5k participants will receive a race t-shirt along with post race refreshments and chip timing.
