Registration is officially open for the Fifth Annual Finally Spring 5k! and Rockville Bank Kids Run. The event will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Howard Porter Reservoir on Ferguson St. in Manchester – adjacent to Highland Park School. The Rockville Bank Kids Run (1 Mile) will start at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Finally Spring 5k! at 10:00 a.m. Registration is available online here.
The first 100 participants to register will receive a free pair of Manchester Running Company socks, which are made by Sock Guy. Registration is just $15 now through February 14th, at which time the cost will increase to $20 through race day. Registration for the Rockville Bank Kids Run is just $5 and will remain as such through race day. Race day registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. at Highland Park School.
The Finally Spring 5k! is primarily a trail race through the Howard/Porter Reservoir trails; the event starts and finishes on Ferguson St. but is 95% run on the well-groomed trails. Finally Spring 5k! wicking shirts by Brooks will also be available for sale during the registration procedure and on race day for $20. The Rockville Bank Kids Run also starts and finishes on Ferguson St. and is approximately 60% trails through a small portion of the Howard/Porter Recreation area.
All proceeds from the event benefit Public Allies Connecticut. Manchester Running Company will also host a shoe drive for Soles4Souls along with the event. Manchester Running Company is pleased to report that the Finally Spring 5k! has raised over $10,000 for these two organizations since 2009.
Other amenities include cash prizes for the overall male and female top three finishers along with gift certificates for age group winners. The race will feature post-race refreshments from Great Harvest Bread.
Registration will be capped at 350 runners.
