MRC to Host USATF-CT One Mile Championship

Manchester Running Company is pleased to announce it will host the USA Track & Field – Connecticut One Mile Road Championship. The Spring Street Mile will be contested as the 2014 and 2015 road one-mile championship as selected by the USATF-CT Road Racing Grand Prix Committee. The 2014 Spring Street Mile will take place on Spring Street in Manchester on June 14th.

Registration is available online here. The Spring Street Mile was first contested in 2009 and MRC is pleased to bring this exciting event back to Manchester. The course starts at Tam Rd. and heads west on Spring St. to finish just after the Mt. Nebo parking lot. The course is slightly downhill and is a USATF Certified one-mile endeavor.

Registration is open to all runners for just $20 in advance and $25 on race day. Manchester Running Company members may register for just $18 online. Runners do not need to be a member of USATF or Connecticut residents as this event is open to all ages and abilities; however, team scoring will be based on USATF-CT teams.

In the interest of safety, the event will feature a women’s/girl’s heat starting at 9:00 a.m. followed by a men’s/boy’s heat at 9:07 a.m. Prize money is available to the winning teams and individuals. The event will be professionally chip-timed. Course records are held by Yolanda Flamino on the women’s side (4:57) and Jake Gurzler on the men’s side (4:23). For more information please click here.
