Manchester Running Company had a large contingent of runners perform well and earn personal bests at the ING Hartford Marathon/Half Marathon and 5k on October 12th in Hartford.
The first finishers of the day came in the 5k as Patrick Byrne ran a season best 18:26 to finish 11th overall and Dani Kennedy was the third female and 36th runner overall in 20:43. MRC’s youngest member Sean Barkasy was the top runner in the 10 and under division as he crossed the line in 21:25 while his father Mark was just in front of him at 20:37 and older brother Dylan set a season best running 24:45.
The Half Marathon was highlighted by Dan Uriano’s 40th-place overall finish in a time of 1:19:19 while Kevin Cox was clocked in 1:22:36, which was good enough for 63rd overall. Linda Yamamoto was third in her age group as she crossed the line in just under 90 minutes (1:29:03) and Lanham Marks-Hamilton hit a time of 1:42:12. Despite battling illness and rolling his ankle in a pothole four miles into the race, Dr. Steve Stagnon ran a season best 2:10:14 and Rishabh Jain was just behind Stagnon with a 2:13:19 effort.
The half also featured Tom Soisson of Glastonbury coming through the tape in 1:48:09, and Myles Kessler of Bolton just nipped Soisson at the line for a 1:48:08 clocking, though we’re looking at the video to see who out-leaned whom. Jennifer Fusfeld rounded out the MRC contingent in the half with a time of 2:29:57.
The marquee event of the day was the Marathon, and a beautiful day for running it was. Chris Montemerlo set a personal best in his fourth marathon with a time of 4:15:13 while Dave Fusfeld clocked a 4:32:23 and Dave Sullivan hit the line in 4:50:00; Dave’s wife Pam was just behind in 5:03:56.
A big congratulations to all the MRC runners at the ING Hartford Marathon events!
