Despite only a pair of teams in the event, the competition was fierce and indicative of the competitiveness of the entire state as SoundRunner and MRC are consistently among the top teams in other events; to many, it felt like a good old-fashioned dual/tri meet from high school days. Scoring was based on the top three per team in each gender.

Bulewich was the first MRC runner across the line for masters or open with an impressive 3rd place finish overall and a time of 14:00; he was the top masters finisher in the race. Bulewich was followed by Aaron Flamino in eighth place (14:34) and Tom Soisson (17:43) on the men’s masters side while Sarah Ferrero led the MRC women’s masters in 17:54 and she was the first female masters runner overall. Ferrero was just in front of teammates Kathleen Shaw (18:28) and Melissa Emmerich (18:45). Kenneth Johnson, Peter Briggeman, French Lewis and Beth Gemmell added to MRC’s depth on the masters side en route to victory. The team compiled 123 total points to edge out Silk City Striders and take home the $138 payday.

In the open division, Adam Gootnick was fourth overall in 14:00 while Dan Uriano was the second MRC runner to cross in 14:27 and 7th place while Melissa Stellato led all women in the event by taking 9th overall and breaking the tape in 14:47. Jordan Pike closed on the men’s side of the scoring with an 11th place finish (15:20) and Ashley Gurzler took 18th (15:55) with Briana Demers rounding out the scoring six with a 20th place finish in 16:20. Patrick Byrne, Ariana Pike, and Laura Tignonsini gave the squad some depth behind the scorers.

In a close battle for the championship, SoundRunner beat out MRC 55-69, but MRC still left with a $92 payout.
