With the greatest race on planet earth (Manchester Road Race) just over a week away we wanted to let you know about all the happenings associated with the race, including special events put on by local running clubs. We’ll go in chronological order.
Saturday, November 23rd: This is a big day for all ages. We start with the Manchester Road Race Expo which takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Manchester Running Company will be on display with big discounts on all of our gear and apparel. This is the perfect spot for your last minute needs for the road race, we’ll have arm-warmers, calf sleeves, gloves, head bands, and more. We’ll also have FREE posters while supplies last.
The expo will also have less important vendors than us and you can register for the race if you have not done so already. Online registration closed faster than any other year this time around so you need to be one of the first 1,000 through the door to have a shot at registration. This is your last chance to register for the race.
If you’re looking to get in a run and perhaps up your qualifying seed for the race, you can join the Silk City Striders for their Know Your Pace Race at 8:00 a.m. at Bennet Academy on Main Street. The rules are you guess your time before you run, no watches allowed and closest to their estimated times wins.
The Little Manchester Road Race also takes place on Saturday and this is at 10:00 a.m. at the Charter Oak Park soccer field. This race is sold out, and has been for some time, but if you’re looking to cheer on the little ones, they have three races of varying distances. Click here for more info on the race.
Wednesday, November 27th, 1:30 p.m.: Join Manchester Running Company for an informal pre-race run/jog of the course. We meet at the Manchester High School track parking lot (Brookfield Street) and we’ll run the course. This has traditionally been a larger group run of varying paces, some of us don’t even run the whole course. It’s just for fun and to get in a little shakeout run before the big day.
