Jake Gurzler married into the Manchester Running Company club in 2009 (officially married in 2010 to Ashley Reichelt) and has nearly monopolized MRC’s events.  A winner of all but one non-track events, Gurzler was won six straight MRC events including the Spring Street Mile, the Finally Spring 5k! and the Pride in Manchester 5k, setting course records in all three events.

A graduate of Shenendehowa High School, Gurzler comes from a high school rich in distance running tradition.  He helped Shen to numerous conference and state championships before moving on to Quinnipiac University where he won a Northeast Conference (NEC) Individual Cross Country title while helping his team to a second straight conference victory in 2007.

Gurzler was 26th at the famed Manchester Road Race in 2009 and has won every race in which he has competed since.  A native of Ballston Lake, N.Y., Jake is now a resident of Manchester with his wife and is an assistant coach for men’s cross country and track & field at Southern Connecticut State University.
