Five Meet Records Fall in the Rain

July 25, 2013 – Despite the relatively cool air (65 degrees) and constant moderate rain, many braved the conditions for week number three of Thursday Nights Under the Lights track & field series presented by TicketNetwork. The conditions were ideal for distance running and a staggering 32 degrees cooler than the previous week.

Week 3 Results

The evening started with a bang as Timothy Milenkevich of Ansonia took the lead from the gun in the 5k and never looked back, clocking off a 4:54 first mile and repeating that two more times for a meet record 15:30.56.

Despite the chilly conditions, the sprinters had their day too as Jordan McCoy ran the 100 in a time of 12.99 for a youth meet record. Jared Delane put up a very solid time in the men’s 100, taking the tape in 10.78 seconds. McCoy would later set a youth meet record in the 400 meters as he finished first in 1:04.79.

The 800 meters saw two meet records fall with Stratford’s Zofia Wierkowski earning the top women’s time in 2:23.92 and Anthony Red of Bloomfield set a youth meet record in a time of 2:44.69.

Thursday, August 1 is the final meet of the season and will start at 6:00 p.m. at the Manchester High School track – we hope to see you there. For more information on our track series, please visit our event page.
