Fall Racing Season Well Underway for MRC

MANCHESTER (Oct. 3, 2012) – The fall racing season is off to a tremendous start for many of the Manchester Running Company club members! There are so many great races in New England in the fall, we just can’t get to them all but we have run some of our favorites through September and have many plans for October and November – culminating, of course, with the 76th Manchester Road Race on Thanksgiving Day.

Ashley Gurzler is undefeated in the fall of 2012 thus far as she has taken the women’s crown at the Clinton Blue Fish 5k, Life Without Limits 5k, Olde Wethersfield 5k, Somers Great Escape 5k and the Cider Mill 5k which she just completed on Sept. 29th. Ashley ran her best time of 18:35 at the Somers Great Escape race in early September.

Jake Gurzler has seen some great competition this fall but took the victory at the Life Without Limits 5k in 15:54 and followed that up with a third place showing at the Somers Great Escape 5k, where he ran a season best 15:27 before taking 5th last weekend at the Cider Mill 5k in 15:59.

MRC’s youngest member, Harold McCarty, set an age group record at the Hogsback Half Marathon on September 22nd as the ten year old completed the course in just 2:03:28, finishing with his father Mark. Mark is gearing up for the Hartford Marathon.

Garrett Ash helped the MRC club take first place in the team competition of the Somers Great Escape race as he completed the 5k course in 16:40 to take fourth place overall and he followed that performance up with a 1:16:52 showing at the Hogsback Half Marathon.

Many of our members have big plans for the fall including Carrie Corbett’s debut in the marathon.

We hope to see all of you out at the races!
