Schedule:
8:00 a.m. – Registration Opens (both races)
9:15 a.m. – Registration for Rockville Bank Kids Run Closes
9:30 a.m. – Rockville Bank Kids Run Begins
9:45 a.m. – Registration for Finally Spring 5k! Closes
10:00 a.m. – Finally Spring 5k! Begins
10:50 a.m. – Awards and Prizes

Location: The race is run primarily in the Howard/Porter Passive Recreation Area on Ferguson Street in Manchester, Conn.  The start and finish is actually on Ferguson Street itself so a total of about 200 yards is run on the road.

Registration and Cost: Registration can be done in one of three ways.  You may register online by clicking here, you may download the application and mail in your entry along with check made out to Manchester Running Company, LLC or you can register on race day in the Highland Park School parking lot.  Pre-registration is $15.00 through Feb. 15th for adults and $5.00 for youth.  The first 100 pre-registered will get a free pair of Manchester Running Company socks (very popular)! Those wishing to register after Feb. 15th or on race day the cost is $20.00 and registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. on race-day.

Parking: In 2012 there will be NO PARKING at Highland Park School, there are major renovations being done to the school and the parking lot does not exist. There is plenty of street parking on neighboring streets but please be prepared you may need to park as far as 1/4 mile away. There will also be no parking on Ferguson St. from the reservoir to Porter, there is parking toward the Middle Tnpk side of Ferguson, however. If you know you are going with a group we suggest meeting at Manchester High School or Charter Oak Park and just taking one car, it will save room.

Restrooms: Restrooms will be available inside Highland Park School.

 Awards: 2012 Award Divisons
Open Male and Open Female (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
Youth Race Awards:  Movie tickets – 1st and 2nd place (male and female)
18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 +; no double-dipping

Sponsors: Rockville Bank, Big Y, Eastern Mountain Sports, Century 21, Great Harvest Bread, Thomas Hooker Brewery, Shady Glen, Residence Inn by Marriott, ShopRite and of course Manchester Running Company!

Results: Results will be posted on our website along with CoolRunning and The Last Mile Racing.  The 2011 FS5K! was won by Jake Gurzler in a time of  17:29 – the course is measured a touch long.

Timing: Timing will be done by The Last Mile Racing Company

The Course: We call it a 5k, but really it’s probably a 5.25k (hey, the name just sounds better- actual course distance measures 3.25 miles).  Starting on Ferguson Street the course is primarily uphill for the first mile before you hit some flat and gradual downhill starting in mile 2, mile three is very much downhill.  Because the course starts on road we do not recommend spikes but trail shoes are highly recommended.

What is Public Allies? Find out more here!

Food: We will provide a nice breakfast spread of breads, bagels, fruit, juice and water for your enjoyment at no extra cost.

Soles4Souls Shoe Drive:  Manchester Running Company is pledging 20 new pairs of shoes to donate to Soles4Souls to help those in need throughout the world.  Please bring any gently worn or new shoes you are looking to get rid of or don’t use anymore to the race and we’ll give them to charity!  More on this shoe drive.
