Manchester Running Company’s Carrie Corbett was victorious in the Half at the Hamptons on February 23rd in Hampton, NH. It was Corbett’s second victory of the young season and a great confidence builder as she is training for her first Boston Marathon in April.
Corbett was the women’s winner with a very impressive time of 1:22:50 and was the 21st finisher overall. Corbett’s pace was a very brisk 6:20 and and was a solid 40 seconds in front of her nearest competitor.
Carrie ran an aggressive first ten miles of the race, hitting between 6:08-6:14 pace per mile before cruising in with 6:25’s for the last 5k. Corbett said she slowed down just a touch near the end with no help from a tantalizing last stretch of the race where you could see the finish line for nearly two miles. For the victory, the top woman received a handsome gift pack of “the best first place prize ever – a six pack of Smuttynose Brown Ale, a Smuttynose sweatshirt, a $25 gift certificate to Portsmouth Brewery, a $25 gift certificate to a local restaurant in Hampton”.
