Reichelt out-distanced herself from the women’s field by nearly three minutes as she crossed the line in 19:34 over a very hilly 5k course. Reichelt was in charge of the women’s field from the start, as the closest competitor finished in 22:27.
On the men’s side, Drew Best picked up yet another victory this fall, putting 17 seconds on his closest opponent and was the only runner across the line in under 16 minutes as his official clocking read 15:59. Best averaged 5:09 miles throughout the rain soaked course.
Kevin Beals, also a member of MRC’s Running Club finished 21st overall in 20:01.
The Ray Crothers Memorial 5k was in memory of Ray Crothers, long-time co-owner of the Run In in Rocky Hill. Crothers was well respected and loved in the CT running community, he once won the Manchester Road Race. Ray passed away just a short time ago after a battle with skin cancer.
