3rd Annual Beards & Beers 5k is November 12th

Manchester Running Company and the MMNT Foundation are excited to bring you the Third Annual Beards & Beers 5k on November 12, 2016 in Manchester. The event is a can’t miss and raises important funds for a number of local charities and organizations, including the Curtis D. Robinson Center for Health Equity at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford. The Curtis D. Robinson Center focuses primarily on men’s health initiatives, screening, research, and treatment for underserved populations in the region.

The race is a fast, flat, certified 5k loop through Manchester and South Windsor, supported by police presence on the roads so you have clear running lanes. The post-race party is one of the best around with nine breweries lined up to give you samples of their best beers and six restaurants serving up some of your favorite foods. We encourage men to grow out their beards in support of men’s health initiatives and we’d love to see women in their finest fake beards. Beer and food vendors include:

The Hartford Better Beer Company
Labyrinth Brewing Company
These Guys Brewing Company
Two Roads Brewing Company
Stony Creek Brewery
Thimble Island Brewing Company
Broadbrook Brewing Company
Grey Sail Brewing
Black Hog Brewing Co.

Andree’s Waffalloons
Randy’s Wooster Street Pizza
Corey’s Catsup & Mustard
Pastrami on Wry
Little Mark’s Big BBQ
Carrabba’s Italian Grill

Post-race entertainment will also be provided by Dave & Busters, with a live band, Donkey Hotey, jamming out for you. The cost of the race is just $25 through October 15th, $30 from Oct. 16th through November 10th and then $35 on race day. If you’re not quite up for the run and just want to come party, that’s just a $10 minimum donation. Registration takes place online here. The event starts and finishes at the MMNT Foundation offices at 160 Chapel Rd. in Manchester. Race time is 11:00 a.m.

Some of the region’s top runners have joined us for this race as BAA’s Sam Alexander was the 2014 winner in 14:58 while Glarius Rop took the win last year in 15:46. On the women’s side, Apryl Sabadosa was the top finisher in 2015, in 18:52.
